COMMON MISTAKES OF GROUPS


1. The tendency to go off in all directions simultaneously.
2. The person who can speak the loudest and fastest gets the floor.
“In the U.S. communication is a competitive exercise in which
the first person to draw a breath is declared the listener.”
3. People tell the boss (or person with the most power) what they want to hear.
4. No agreement about what the problem is.
5. There is no agreement on how to do the work or the PROCESS.
6. Discouraging disagreement.
7. Not enough time.
8. Work which could be done outside the meeting is not.
9. Evaluation of ideas before idea generation is completed.
10. Views tension or disagreement in the group as a problem.
